angela, i thought it was time! soup again!

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

i've started to cook. yesiree. In earnest now! mushrooms and cream sauce. corn on the cob, fish fillets. A little of this a little of that, low temperature, the music plenty loud in the kitchen. Gina, Brody and Carl arriving any minute. And yes. dinner is served! (proudly wiping my hands on my apron). magician.

my faveourite is stone soup :) in fact, I've not made it. No not exactly. not quite yet. Stone soup, you see, is my faveourite aspiration. it's a cauldron with carrots and salt and potatoes and stones. It is me with tendrils of hair stuck to my brow, sleeves pushed up, bent double- stirring in the potion. cabbages, tomatoes, garlic cloves.

Soup like this is to be made for vagabonds. so dear traveling ones. this week. i will make it all my life for other nomads. dear friends. you know the story of stone soup? of all sharing and none going hungry, soup out of big pots in the town square. the smell bringing hungry faces out of doors, chldren in arms, solitude forgotten?

i will continue these sporadic meetings. we each have carrots to add. strings of onions.

kelsey. oy vay.  i just wanted to take you home. thank you, thank you for what you add to me.

Speak For Yourself

Hello friend!

I am 19 this week!
I try to think that time is organiic, ever changing.
But Just once a year
I like to consider the steady passing of time.

my birthday was in Polk City, Iowa
an iowa is freeing in that you learn to like small things.
there aren't really any big things in iowa.
except the sky, maybe the freeways extending across huge flatness too.
some bleuch. some nice lake action though, a huge open lake with candian geese. mmhmm.

becca and I climbed around on federal property to celebrate being alive, also to stick it to the proverbial man.

We stayed with Grammy McAfee, and did you know that siamese cats have either "apple heads" or "wedge head"s- round or skinny?

Though you may be tempted to sing me the evil cat Lady and the Tramp song, Siamese have "very pleasant temperaments."

I would like to see my sisters all summer and it just - might - happen.

That is all,
Hey reader, thanks for stopping by,
love, Emilie
